hope is what we must hold on to…

So I have this friend, who I barely know, but who has been an overwhelming encouragement to me for the past two years.  I would see her in the dorm, across campus, in the coffee shop- all at random encounters and never intentional, and no matter how lonely I felt at the time, she would find some way to encourage me and show me that I am loved.  I would find notes on my door, random hugs in the hallway, and a few weeks ago when I felt all kinds of worry and stress and despair, she stopped what she was doing to pray with me in the middle of our coffee shop.

She has truly shown me joy and the encouragement of the Lord in Cincinnati, and I am SO grateful.

Today I took a minute to express my appreciation, to which she responded: “I guess in a weird way there is a unsaid connection you have with people who have been wounded and aren’t afraid to speak it outloud and let God work in their life through it”

I am learning that there can be joy and beauty in struggle and in the seemingly miserable paths we go through. I am learning that the seasons turn, and a harsh winter can become a gorgeous spring full of life and hope.  Im learning that hope is what we must hold on to.

May we be proclaimers of hope and joy and beauty in the misery.

Ill leave you with this from a book by Jan Myers:

“To be grateful for an unanswered prayer, to give thanks in the state of interior desolation, to trust in the love of God in the face of the marvels, cruel circumstances, obscenities, and the commonplaces of life is to whisper a doxology in darkness.”

my weekend

i must admit last weekend was…dull. to say the least. I did however pick up my camera once or twice and here’s what I ended up with, a little sampler:

dsc_0036dsc_0029me-and-my-nikonI am still trying to learn some editing things, but I think i am improving steadily without it!  All in all, I am enjoying the process.

Farewell for now,
